Dwelling in the Southwest United States, the Navajo Indian clan is probably the biggest clan in America today. In their own language, they allude to themselves as Dinã © which implies â€Å"the people†. They are an old clan with relatives following their foundations back to the thirteenth century. The primary contact that the Navajos had with white pilgrims was during the Mexican American War in 1846. The United States directed tranquil relations with the Navajo for more than fifteen years. Fortifications were worked to help shield the Navajo from Spanish/Mexican strikes on the Navajo’s steers. Inevitably, another military administrator, James H. Carleton, was named in New Mexico and he started to attack Navajo lands intensely. He requested the Navajo to give up.
