Overview of Program Costs According to BYU’s website regarding the MSW program, it states that â€Å"our program takes 20 months of full-time study to complete. You will pay tuition five times.† With a tuition of $3,250 a semester for graduate students at BYU, I will need to pay a total of $16,250 of tuition. While the price for books and school supplies is not explicitly stated, I am estimating that it will be an additional $300 per semester, or $1,500 for the five semesters. This would increase the cost of attendance (COA) to $17,750. Scholarships Available Along with the MSW application (with an application date of January 2017), there is an additional section to apply for financial assistance (scholarships). There are two different scholarships that I may be eligible for: a gift fund scholarship, and a social work advocate scholarship. For both of the available scholarships, it says that â€Å"recipients are chosen from the following criteria: GPA, identified need, community service, and potential for contribution in the field of social work.† Fortunately, I have been able to provide much in community service with my application. I have been involved with the Utah County Crisis Line, First Choice Home Health and Hospice, the Utah State Hospital, Research, Camp Kesem, my mission in Guatemala, and various other activities. My GPA is also higher than the average GPA of MSW candidates, which further increases my chances of possibly receiving one of these scholarships.
